Transitional Kindergarten
So with the girls’ birthdays coming up and seeing all these back to school signs everywhere, I’ve been contemplating a lot on what to do the following year regarding school for both my daughters. I can’t believe I have to think about this already! One will be eligible to go to kinder but a special hybrid kindergarten called transitional kindergarten, and the other will most likely go to preschool part time.
I always wondered about when my oldest would start school because she was born in November. Seriously I thought about it when she turned one. Then the following year, that same thought popped into my head. Now here I am really making decisions about what to do with school now that she is turning four this year.
The State has changed its rule on how old you have to be for kinder…
For the 2011–12 school year the date is December 2
For the 2012–13 school year the date is November 1
For the 2013–14 school year the date is October 1
For the 2014–15 school year and each school year thereafter the date is September 1
My hubs and I are most likely signing her up for TK next year! My concern for my daughter starting school would have been if she was mature enough and socially read to start real school with that many students at a young 5. Now that the cutoff date is 10/1 versus 12/2, the decision has been made for me and I can choose to send her to TK which is offered at her school. I’m hoping that TK will be a good bridge between Preschool to Kinder and that another year at her Preschool she’ll continue to grow and soak up everything to be ready for real school in 2013!
On a side note, we are almost done with the DIY abstract painting. We had two painting sessions so far – first one was to cover the canvas in a base color of a light yellow/cream and the second was to have my daughter go at it with light greens, blues, and reds. Our third painting session will be to make any last minute touch ups and to cover up any blank space. It was hard not to just jump in and start painting with her because at one point she was mixing reds, greens, and blues together so it was turning into an ugly brown color. I purposely bought some bright colors to match our pillows and to bring some color into the house. Hoping to show you guys this weekend!

This post makes me sad. I can’t believe it is almost time for L to go to t-Kindergarten. Where did the time go? Wish I could just stop and let them all stay young for a while! I will probably shed tears with you on her first day of TK next year!
Aw man…my child falls in this category too! I totally stressed about this before he even turned 1. Haha. Do give me feedback on how tk works out!
