A party favor bag to hand to each child is a must in my book. It’s a nice way to say “thanks for coming to celebrate with us”. Plus and this is a BIG plus, most children expect something! haha! We once left a party empty-handed and my daughter was SO confused…never mind they fed us and entertained us, she didn’t understand why she was not given a favor (granted, she was 3 or 4 at the time).
The dilemma is always do I just buy them or do I personalize them by making them? I’ve done both but always have the need to decorate the paper ones still! Sheesh! What’s wrong with me?! So, I decided the week of the party that they would be made! My twins were sweet enough to let me use fabric I had stashed away instead of making another trip to the fabric store.
So this is where it pays off to buy fabric by the bolt
I measured the widest party treats and added a few inches on the sides for the bag. For the length, take your longest treat and add 5 inches extra to the height of your bag. My bag measured 7 x 9 inches.
MATERIALS:
- Sewing Machine
-
Fabric
- Pinking Shears
- Grosgrain Ribbon to match your fabric
- Marking Pen
HOW TO:
1. Cut 2 pieces of your fabric using your pinking shears, which will minimize the fraying. Mine measured 7.5 x 9.5.
2. Cut a piece of ribbon; ribbon should go around the bag and be long enough to tie into a bow. Mine measured 20.5 inches.
3. Pin the ribbon at the center of the bag, approximately 4 inches from the top. I realized after the kids had packed up their goodies, that the top was too short and slipping out of the ties. This measurement will ensure that you have enough fabric above the ribbon so that it will not slip out.
3. Mark with your disappearing ink where you will stitch up the ribbon. I just eyeballed the center and spaced the stitches 3/4 of an inch apart.
4. Pin wrong sides together and sew the two sides and bottom using 1/4 seam allowance.
5. Clip the corner and turn the bag inside out.

I’ve been working on a small shop update…hoping to have the dolls completed by April. Their faces have been painted and now comes the fun part…accessories!
It has taken me awhile (like all new programs and apps do) but I finally know how to work Instagram and Instacollage! sigh…just when I master one thing, something else comes up and I find myself behind yet again.
Happy Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by!

So remember a LONG time ago when I made these?
Well, I had been meaning to make a template and then realized I had no idea how to do so! But with so many inquiries on the template, I did some researching and figured it out…I think
Here is the template:
MATERIALS:
2. Bone Folder
4. Scissors
5. Xacto Knife (optional)
6. Cutting Mat
7. Glue
8. 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 Black Square Envelopes
9. Pindot Red Fabric
(for Minnie Mouse invites)
10. White thread and needle (for Minnie’s bows)
HOW TO:
1. Download the PDF here and print it out on your white 8.5 by 11 cardstock.
2. Cut out the outline of the head. This will be your template.
3. On your cutting mat, take your template and using your bone folder, score it on to your black cardstock. If you use a 12 by 12 size, you will be able to cut out 2 heads per sheet. Cut out the heads with your scissors. I used my Xacto knife to make cleaner cuts where the ears meet the top of the head.
4. After you’ve cut out all the heads, cut out the inner white circle. Create your invitation wording on Word and play around with it until it is to your liking and fits in the circle. This will take some trial and error. Now, how will you know if it fits? My method…I hold up the wording printout and hold my inner white circle over it. The goal is to have all your wording fit within the parameters of the circle.
5. Print out the invitation wording on your 8.5 by 11 white cardstock. Trace or score and then cut out the inner circles.
6. Adhere them to the head. And there’s your Mickey invite!
7. If you would like to create Minnie invites, make bows out of your polka dot fabric and adhere them on the top of the white circle. You can try using glue but I wasn’t sure if they’d stick so I sewed mine by hand.
Enjoy!

Baby girl had her V-day party last Friday and I had contemplated making her some sort of treat bag just like the ones I made for big bro and sis (before I learned how to sew!)
Last minute, actually the night before the party, I decided that she needed to have one since the big kids have one!
So WITH my sewing machine, I whipped one up.
This one is much roomier and has a nicer opening…which then got me thinking, should I make new ones for the twins??? sigh…

Here are some Valentine treats lil sis and I have made for our kid’s classes.
Robots
Bubble Wand Valentine Cards
Melted Crayon Hearts
and Pink Heart Shaped Rice Krispy Treat Lollipops
We are 4 days away from Valentine’s and I’ve got lots of baking and making to do! With 3 kids getting over their colds and a holiday tomorrow, we shall see if I can accomplish the impossible!

So…what do you think?
So glad I went with Purl Soho’s yarn (I also used the same color, Ecru). It is ultra soft…no itch to it and keeps me SO warm. The only downside? When blocking it, I immersed it in water and it smelled so horrible! haha! My family is all very sensitive to smells so you can imagine everyone’s reactions when I forced them to take a whiff (I needed to know if it was just me…just my husband…just my son…and sure enough daughter confirmed it, it smells when wet!) Now how to describe the smell…I’ve never smelled an alpaca before but I imagine this is what the animal would smell like. Fortunately, for everyone, the smell goes away when the yarn dries. Phew! We are all a bit sensitive to yarn smells right now b/c husband gifted me a cardigan sweater and no matter what I do, I cannot get rid of the smell. I have dry cleaned it! aired it out for weeks and nada! I don’t mind it so much
b/c I love the sweater. But everytime I wear it and we are driving somewhere, I hear my son (who sits all the way in the back of the car!) breathing through his mouth. And as soon as I stop the car, he demands that his door be opened first.
Love how it drapes too! Think I caught the knitting bug! I’m itching (haha! no pun intended) to make something else.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Years!!! I’m a bit behind lil sis but I’ve got lots of excuses
The 1st week of winter break was hectic! with all the holiday parties and getting use to the husband being home. I stand behind my theory that a husband on vaca throws the whole family dynamics off! On the night of Christmas, when all the presents were opened and kids were all in bed, I decided to start a new project! Remember when I talked about this last year? um…was suppose to start it last year, then it became fall of 2012, and I unfortunately, didn’t get to start it until now. My new motto…”better late than never”.
Since starting the cowl, I have pulled it out 3 times (once after completing 3 rows!) and watched this YouTube video so many times I cannot remember. I have made plenty of oopsies where the stitch joins (b/c my darn stitch marker keeps falling off), but I dare not pull it out for the sake of my sanity! Fortunately, I am very pleased with how it is turning out and super excited to finish it!
pattern from purlsoho.com
Although I would say I’m a beginner-intermediate knitter, it is taking me quite a long time to make progress on it. I swear I only seem to be able to knit 2-3 rows a night before my bedtime! It’s the end product (and my OCD) that keeps me going.
Other projects…if you can believe it, I am still working on my wall frame gallery (thus the absence of any mention of it here. haha!). I just ordered my last 2 pictures today so I’m hoping I can FINALLY cross this off my list.
Other news…the twins are back in school, baby girl is quickly turning into a toddler girl, and I have a ridiculous plan to finish the cowl, wall frame gallery, and 3 digital scrapbook albums before spring break. I hope you will keep me accountable
Hoping you had a wonderful holiday season! Thanks for stopping by!

I kept the same theme going from our Halloween treat bags and made “Snowman Soup” treat bags! All 60 filled with hot chocolate packets, candy cane, and some Kisses. There was no way I was going to do something like this again!
I held on to My Little Mochi’s reindeer pouch tutorial (for gift cards) for some time now, and I was super excited to make some for the teachers!
So. so. cute. And the best part about it is you don’t even need to own a sewing maching. All hand sewn!
The twin’s last day of school before winter break is tomorrow and I am looking forward to it! They must sense that vaca is nearing b/c let me tell you…the bickering has begun! I can see how much they’ve grown by their choice of words and the pattern of going back and forth. Truth be told, it does get quite annoying and I try to zone most of of out but I must admit, I do get a kick out it. While they annoy each other at times, they truly cannot live without each other! Right after their bickering session, they move right along and talk about what they found to be funny at school or what they did with their friends during recess or they scheme against the baby. My life with these 3 munchkins is never dull…never peaceful…but always entertaining.
I will be back to show you what’s on my wish list for this year…and really, it’s only 1 item! haha!
Talk to you soon!
