Unfortunately, I didn’t get Veteran’s Day off, so I had a short wknd compared to my fellow friends. It was a pretty packed weekend for me. My high school friend got married this past Saturday where my husband and I got married, so it was nostalgic for us to go back to that place. It was like a mini high school reunion seeing all those old faces. I had a blast reconnecting with old friends (and having a drink or two)!
My hubby got chosen to play a game during the reception along with a few other folks. By the way, weddings these days are so creative now! There were a series of tasks they had to do, and after each one, someone would get eliminated. It was quite entertaining – they had to switch shoes with the opposite sex, get a lipstick kiss mark on the cheek, do the gangnam style dance, do the “dougie”… I’m proud to say the hubs tied for first place and got a cash prize! haha
Here he is wearing my Miu Miu knock offs!
It was fun pretending to be in my mid-20s that night. I think it’s healthy to have those kinds of nights every so often!!!
We had a pizza party at home the next day and invited my mom to eat what the girls made. Lila couldn’t have been more excited to try her creation knowing that she added the sauce, toppings, etc. The little one participated by eating the cheese off the pizza as Lila would pour it on. I added red onions to it, and I really think it made the pizza taste 10x better. I love sweet red onions! The girls were so excited to eat the pizza too. It reminded me of the program that the First Lady is doing at the White House called Let’s Move where she encourages parents to get their children to help in making meals and growing their own veggies/fruit at home. Lila isn’t much of a mushroom eater, but she ate all the mushrooms on her pizza. Maybe the whole idea of preparing and cooking her own dinner played a part in her eating everything. I gotta get that girl to eat more fruit though. Daily thing that’s on my mind!
Although I didn’t get to grub on the pizza as much as the girls did, I had fun celebrating a friend’s birthday at this awesome Greek restaurant called Kentro near my home. I love finding new restaurants, especially ones that are near my house. The food was soooo yummy especially their eggplant spread and octopus appetizer. My in laws are coming again in January, so I’m hoping the hubs and I could squeeze in a date night here. Def going to order their Baklava and espresso for dessert since I didn’t get to eat it on Sunday because of the caffeine. Why am I so sensitive to caffeine?????? UGHH!

The Elmo Makes Music concert was perfect for the three year olds! My girlfriend got me and my other friend tickets, so our group of six went to watch Elmo and the gang sing songs and dance to fun music. The lights, the streamers shooting out from the sky, the craziness of the crowd…there was so much to look at and enjoy. I think my 1.5 year old would have enjoyed it as well, and it wouldn’t have mattered if she was loud because half of the audience were children.
The show was 90 minutes long with a 15 minute intermission. During that time, the girls got to stretch out and play in the Playzone area which was right outdoors. They sold refreshments and snacks too.
Hanging out with Zoe
This weekend was special since it was Father’s Day but also my hubby’s birthday. Big sis babysat my kids, so I could go on a much needed dinner date to Mastro’s – our fave restaurant! Caesar Salad, bone in ribeye, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, chocolate cake, a Strawberry Mule and Merlot for me…enough calories for me to force myself to run three miles the next morning at 6am!
Do you see that blob of white stuff…that’s whipped cream. We downed half of it in a matter of a few minutes!
And lastly, I surprised my daughter with her orange hair rag doll! She’s so into dolls now, and every doll is named after my sis’ baby. HAHA. I guess this is the age where she could truly appreciate the doll and know that mommy made it just for her and actually do pretend play with it. Her imagination is pretty wild.
Her two dolls that sleep with her now…

I’ve been taking care of the girls solo this weekend since hubby is partying it up in Cabos. I was nervous about this weekend! I don’t like sleeping in my house without the hubs. Just makes me feel uneasy. I triple check that the doors are all locked, close all the baby gates, turn on one light downstairs and have my golf club under my bed. Someone robbed my house ten years ago…bad memories!
Anyhow, now that the weekend is almost over, it wasn’t so bad! I actually enjoyed the one on one time with my girls. I took them to McDonald’s at 7am this morning, got them ready for sweet Cara’s first birthday party, napped them, took them on a Target run after they woke up, played outside with their new toys and goodies from the birthday party, bathed them, and still had time to enjoy a Diet Dr. Pepper float without feeling too guilty that it was so late.
For some reason now that I’m working full time, I feel like I have extra energy. It’s the weirdest thing. It’s the two cups of coffee that I drink everyday combined with God just knowing that working mothers need that extra pep in their step. :)
Today…
Watering her plants with her $1 hippo watering can from Target. We planted a seed (don’t even remember what it was), but we’re hoping something will grow soon.
I spy limes! Yay…maybe this is the season when it will be abundant.
Goodbye to Picture Gallery #1. Making the switch next weekend!
